Royal Winton / Grimwades - Shop
livepages::jquery();?>Grimwades Ltd was incorporated in 1900. The business expanded rapidly and took over a number of other potteries. By the time of the First World War, they had become one of the largest manufacturers of earthenware in the North Staffordshire Potteries.
The name “Royal Winton Ware” was in use from as early as 1897 and it was around 1929 that Royal Winton became the recognised trade name of Grimwades.
The Company produced may fine English ceramics, the most well known of which is probably their Chintz ware which they began to manufacture in 1928. Chinz ware was discontinued in the 1960’s due to its high production costs although it was brought back into production in the 1990s after the original company was acquired by Staffordshire Potteries Ltd.
