livepages::jquery();?>George Jones & Sons was a prominent ceramics and majolica manufacturer in Stoke-on-Trent, England, which operated from 1864 to 1951. The company was founded by George Jones, who had previously worked for other prominent ceramics firms in the area, and his sons, who joined the business in the 1880s.
George Jones himself died in 1893 but the business was carried on by his sons when, in 1907, the Company was renamed Crescent Potteries. Use of the Crescent China trade name ceased in the early 1950’s and the Company ceased trading in 1957.
Following the 1851 “Great Exhibition” held at Crystal Palace, many world cities held similar International exhibitions and George Jones & Sons were awarded medals at three of these (London, Paris and Vienna).
George Jones' china is very sought after today and some pieces can fetch extremely high prices.
