Cake Stand 3-Tier. Art Deco. Quirky. "Flying Pheasants". c.1930

The pieces that make up this quirky cake stand come from the Art Deco era.  Produced by XL Ware c,1930, the pattern is "Flying Pheasants".

This is a handmade cake stand, lovingly made in our workshop from vintage pieces to make an attractive and unusual 'one of a kind' serving stand for you to enjoy.

Cream coloured china featuring a central hand painted over transfer motif of pheasants flying from the trees.  Finished with over painted embossing to the 'ears' of the bottom plate and hand decorated bands in typical Art Deco colours of green and orange.

Bottom plate measures 9½" x 9½

Central Plate measures 6¾" diameter

Top Saucer Measures 5½" diameter

Cup is a standard English tea cup 2¾" tall and 3½" across the top rim.

The stand can, of course, be set up without the cup or, indeed, without the saucer thus making this a 2-tier stand.

The design and colour of this stand lends itself to serving not only cakes but cheese & biscuits, cold meats, savoury bites whereupon the cup can be filled with small onions, olives, etc, etc.

There is no damage to these old pieces but there is some wear and slight marking to the bottom plate.  In our opinion, this does not detract from the charm of this set which is, after all, 90+ years old.
